Cafcass who represent a voice of a child, have spoken to children about the impact of Covid-19 on Black and Asian communities and the racial injustice following the death of George Floyd in the United States. Cafcass have pledged that they will renew their efforts to listen hard to these children and their families so that they can better understand the impact on their lives following the current circumstances.

During the recent events we have had a case whereby one parent took part in the recent protests and the other parent was not in agreement to this due to the risk of contracting Covid-19 when they have a child together and refused to return the child. The matter is now in court and it will be interesting to see how CAFCASS and the Judge approach the matter following the guidance from CAFCASS. We are in unprecedented times and it is hard to predict how the Judge will approach this situation as the parent protesting felt very strongly that this was the right thing to do even though it was against the lock down rules.
